As part of our new artist collaboration series 8 Months 8 Artists for 8 Ball Community, we are releasing a collaboration with Nick Sethi. We have joined forces with COME TEES by LA-based artist Sonya Sombreuil to launch this collective effort. Each month we will be releasing a new collaboration with a new artist.

The brainchild of Sonya Sombreuil, Come Tees (Santa Cruz) is known for its hand-screened, hand-drawn tees. The method of silkscreen developed by Ms. Sombreuil allows the ink to settle deeply into the fibers, resulting in a higher saturation of color and permanence, and a texture that feels more embedded, less raised. Her style of illustration is as meditative as it is provocative. Look closely and read closely for a history of music, punk, protest, the silly and the weird, American, and global influence rattling together in a precise, cannibalistic crescendo of visual poetry.

Due to restrictions caused by Covid-19 we were forced to cancel our annual fundraiser at Mission Chinese Food in Chinatown. To address our ongoing community needs, cultural programming, all-volunteer staff, and our exhibition space, this fundraising effort 8 Months 8 Artists for 8 Ball Community taps vital members of our artist's family to each create a limited-edition shirt designed on their respective ideas of Community.

8-Ball Community will be donating a portion of the sales from each collaboration to a nonprofit organization of the artist's choice. This month, Sonya Sombreuil has chosen South Central local of the Los Angeles Tenants Union.

The L.A. Tenants Union is an autonomous, member-funded union that fights for the human right to housing. From their five years of organizing tenants against evictions and harassment, with rent strikes, direct action, and media campaigns, they know tenants need to come together, all of us, to win the rent forgiveness we need.

Donations will be matched by Supreme New York.
