Introducing the Maia Ruth Lee x 8-Ball Community - Steel Glyphs Tee!
We have joined forces with our close friend and acclaimed artist, Maia Ruth Lee, for a special collaborative t-shirt.
Maia Ruth Lee is a multidisciplinary artist whose works span across photography, sculpture, painting, and video. Lee's works move through questions around the self as a diasporic subject that expands and challenges our notion of the borders and communities. Maia Ruth Lee has been part of the art book and self publishing communities of New York since 2011, and has been a supporter of 8-Ball Community since its original founding in 2012.
These ultra-soft, boxy fit shirts are available in Steel Blue and Safety Orange, and have been produced entirely from scratch with the highest quality materials. The yarn is sourced and milled in the US, and the shirts are washed, cut, sewn, and screen printed here in New York City by Infinite Wave.
The Steel Glyphs are a cross between pictographs and talismans - they are created from welding together salvaged steel discards from fences and windows from across New York. They represent protection and their ability to give account to experiences, memories, and emotions.
